Fractional CTO

A fractional CTO gives a non technical owner someone who answers for technology. Ali Sedighi holds an MBA in Technology Management, has founded eight companies and takes CTO seats himself. He decides what to build, what to buy and what to shut down, manages developers and vendors, and translates every technical question into a business decision you can make in one meeting.

What you leave with

A technology roadmap, a managed set of vendors and developers, and an owner who is no longer the only person who understands the stack.

Who it is for

  • Owners whose website, CRM and software are run by a patchwork of vendors nobody coordinates
  • Companies building or buying software without a technical person on the leadership team
  • Investors who acquired a business and need to know what the technology is worth and what it risks

What we deliver

  • A systems inventory: every tool, licence, login, owner, cost and renewal date
  • A twelve month technology roadmap tied to revenue and operating goals
  • Vendor and developer management, including scope, quotes and acceptance of work
  • Security basics: access control, backups, password management and recovery tests
  • An AI and automation shortlist ranked by hours saved per month

How it runs

  1. 01Inventory

We list every system, who owns it, what it costs and what breaks if it stops.

  2. 02Roadmap

We agree what technology must do for the business this year, then sequence projects by return and risk.

  3. 03Run

Ali manages developers and vendors week to week, reviews what ships and reports to you in plain language.

  4. 04Transfer

We document everything, put every account in the company's name and train your internal technology lead if you want one.

Engagement and fees

Fractional Executive band, $25K to $60K per month, outcome based, three month minimum. Smaller scopes fit an Advisory Retainer at $8K to $25K per month. Every engagement is scoped after a call and confirmed in writing. See consultations and fees.

Why a non technical owner needs a CTO seat

Every company is now partly a software company, whether it sells heat pumps or legal services. Without someone accountable for technology, decisions get made by whichever vendor talked to you last. Projects run over, data lives in six places, and the one person who knows the passwords becomes a risk to the whole business.

The fractional CTO seat fixes the accountability problem first. One person decides, one roadmap exists, and every vendor reports into it. Ali has been the founder buying technology and the agency building it, so quotes and timelines get an informed reading.

What we do and do not build

Our team includes developers, data and automation specialists, so when the roadmap calls for a new website, an integration, a reporting layer or an AI agent, we can build it inside the engagement. We also say no. If a well supported product already does the job, we recommend buying it and spend your money on adoption instead.

We do not take over your accounting software or payroll decisions. Those sit with your CPA and your operations lead, and we work alongside them.

What to prepare and common mistakes

Prepare a list of every monthly software charge on your statements, the names of every developer or agency you have paid in two years, and the three things that break most often. That is enough for the inventory to start.

The common mistake is hiring a developer before hiring judgement. A fractional CTO is the judgement. Developers are far more productive when someone sets scope, reviews their work and protects them from changing priorities every week. That protection is the seat's job.
